I am very excited to share this post with you and share my new pearly white smile! A while ago I was contacted by Smile Brilliant, a US based company that specialises in at home teeth whitening. I’ve spent my life wanting a whiter smile, yes my best friend painted a picture of me when we were 6 and used yellow paint for my teeth, it’s scarred me ever since! So I grabbed the opportunity to test out the custom fitted teeth whitening kit*.
Smile Brilliant have been a delight to work with and their customer service is fab! I’m going to run through the process of ordering through Smile Brilliant and my results using it the kit.
Once the kit arrives you’re faced with 3 tubes of whitening gel, 3 tubes of desensitising gel, 2 bizarre trays, some pots of rubber and an envelope. The idea of the kits is to create custom fitted trays to allow for precise application and comfort, in order to do so you need to create moulds of your teeth!
This is where the trays and rubber come in. You mix together a Base Paste and a Catalyst Paste and quickly pop it into a tray, you then push the tray onto one set of teeth to create the mould! Then repeat for your other teeth (this is explained way better in the kit).
Once the moulds are set grab that envelope and pop them in, post them back to Smile Brilliant, which costs £5 from the UK and is the only postage you need to pay!
In a week or so you’ll receive your custom fitted trays and you’re ready to teeth whiten. To whiten you squeeze one line of gel around the front edge of the trays and leave them in for 1-3 hours. You can do this everyday for a week or every other day for 2 weeks depending on sensitivity. After whitening apply the desensitising gel for 20 mins to help re-moisturise the teeth.
I found the process super easy and actually quite enjoyed having the trays in, although I do struggle to last 3 hours without food! I didn’t experience much sensitivity throughout the course although I did prefer to do it every other day. I would recommend applying it very carefully as you don’t want any gel on your gums as this can become a bit uncomfortable.
Each syringe is supposed to provide 3-4 applications but I actually got 6-7 out of them which was really great! So I’m going to keep going for a few more treatments and have enough to top up next year!
From the photographs you can see before my teeth were a stained yellow colour, this is the natural colour of my teeth as I don’t smoke, drink or do any of the other stereotypically staining activities. The gel has gently lightened my teeth and taken away that harsh yellow colour whilst not leaving me looking like Ross from friends! I am really pleased with the outcome.
The kits start at $120, but for the quality of the product and service I think this is an amazing price point! I have thoroughly enjoyed using the kit and would definitely recommend it to those wanting a whiter smile!
